Tech news update: Black Friday record, UK surveillance, #donglelife2016

Black Friday 2016 sets a new record

This Black Friday U.S consumers made the purchase of more than $1 billion via their smartphones and tablets. Making it as the first billion dollar smartphone shopping day in the history of the United States, according to Adobe. Adobe also estimated that consumers spent more than  $3.3 billion on the online shopping sites.

UK surveillance

According to the new Law UK will be legalizing the bulk collection of user data or in the simple words, the UK is legalizing the unprecedented public surveillance. The bill has already passed by politicians pending the royal assent, once cleared the new law will allow the police and government intelligence agencies to spy on its own people. Snowden said, ” It’s the most extreme surveillance in the history of western democracy”.

Apple’s new MacBook Pro 2016 line-up is being criticized for having very little I/O flexibility. The MacBook Pro 2016 features four USB C ports (base model has two) and a headphone jack, that’s all you get. If you want to plug the standard USB devices or even an SD card then you will need to buy a dongle for it or in fancy words “Adapters” for it. If you want to get them all then the MacBook Pro 2016 requires $378 worth of dongles. Apple temporarily cuts adapters prices but the fact that a pro machine requires hundreds of dollars of adapters led to the #donglelife2016 trend.

Stay tuned for the updates.
