With more than 500 million people watching Facebook videos every day, It is safe to say that Mark Zuckerberg has successfully managed to build a video empire. Facebook is now planning to make some money out of it.
According to recent reports, Facebook will soon start monetizing your videos. It will start testing the “mid-role” ads, which will allow the video publishers to integrate the ads after 20 seconds of video playback. Facebook will then share the 55 percent of generated revenue with the publishers. YouTube also offer the exact same amount of shares to their publishers.
From last 2 years, Facebook has been a great platform for the content creators. The only downside being the lack of money. By monetizing the videos, Facebook is encouraging more creators to share their content directly on the social networking website.
Last year company announced live 360-Degree videos, allowing the users to post the live VR-ready content. With moves like this Facebook is clearly planning to build the much bigger video empire. Making it the direct competitor of YouTube, which is currently ruling the online video ad business.
