Microsoft’s Surface Pro 5 will be a minor upgrade

Microsoft is expected to hold a special Surface hardware event soon. The company hasn’t revealed any dates or details regarding the event but it is rumored that the Surface Book 2 won’t appear at the event. Microsoft will reveal the new Surface Pro 5 with the upgraded hardware and refreshed design.

Paul Thurrott has recently revealed some details regarding the Surface Pro 5. According to his tweet, the Surface Pro 5 will not change the Surface Connect power connector. It will come with the Intel’s latest Kaby Lake processors. Thurrott confirms it will just be an incremental update to the surface line with few hardware bumps, nothing dramatic.

The current generation Surface Pro lacks the USB-C port and the majority of Windows PC makers are now moving to this standard. So it won’t be a surprise to see the company bringing USB-C port to the new Surface Pro. The reason for keeping the Surface Connector is probably for the last gen accessory support.

All we know now is Microsoft’s upcoming hybrid tablet will be powered by the Kaby Lake processors and will be just a minor upgrade. More details will be revealed once Microsoft launched the Surface Pro 5.

Stay tuned for the updates.
