MSI Trident 3: The ultimate Console killer?

MSI Trident 3

When we think about a gaming PC the image of giant RGB lighted towers comes to our minds. For years a lot of PC gamers were asking for a promising living room gaming machine that comes in a small form factor without compromising the performance. But we never quite got that perfect machine, until now. The MSI Trident 3 promises to deliver the high-end PC gaming performance in a compact console like form factor.

It comes with an Intel Core i7-7700 processor, 16GB DDR4 memory, and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. By no means, this is the best gaming PC configuration out there but it is still a really powerful one. Keep in mind all of this comes in a 13.63″ x 9.15″ x 2.83″ form factor and weighs only 6.9 lbs. Which makes it a perfect choice for a living room gaming machine.

With all compact size PCs, thermals can quickly become an issue and same goes with the Trident 3. At the normal room temperature, the CPU temperature can sometimes peak over 90 degrees but the good news is it never faced any throttling issues.

Design wise the Trident 3 fits in between the gaming PC and the usual corporate PC department. It has a tower-like design and the RGB lighting on the front does give the gaming PC vibes.

Upgrading the MSI Trident 3 is also fairly simple the CPU, GPU, and RAM modules can be easily swappable without taking the whole system apart. Only the storage replacement requires the complete system tear down.

The whole system comes with the included Keyboard, mouse, 230W power adapter, HDMI, and Display Port cables. That said, if you want to upgrade the GPU that takes more power then you will also require a new Power adapter.

The Verdict

The MSI Trident 3 is a perfect machine for someone who is looking for a great compact size pre-built gaming PC / Workstation. The model with Intel Core i7-7700 processor and GTX 1060 will cost your around $1300. Of course, you can build a better PC for less than 20% of the price but consider it’s a pre-built compact gaming machine we say it’s worth your money.

Stay tuned for the updates.
