Profile picture theft is very common here in India, you can find tons of fake accounts with the stolen images. This issue is concerning Indian women for years now and Facebook has finally decided to take the action against it. Facebook introduced a new profile picture protection tool in India that will stop people from stealing your photos.
This new tool will stop the other users from downloading, sharing, or copying your profile pictures. It will also keep unknown people from tagging themselves in the images. Once you activate this tool, you will notice a blue shield border around your profile image. Facebook will also stop people from taking screenshots of your profile picture, at least on Android. However, people could still take screenshots from their computers. Facebook says they are working very hard to stop people taking screenshots of the images.
Indian women are usually told to avoid uploading their photos on the social media sites. Facebook said they took the inspiration from many profile theft cases that are currently happening in India. Hopefully, this tool will solve the problem in the coming future.
Stay tuned for the updates.
