HP is planning to enter the high-end gaming laptop market with their new Omen X gaming laptops. The Omen X is a worthy competitor to the other high-end gaming laptops currently available in the market and offers everything you expect from a premium gaming laptop.
The base variant with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, 1080p display ( Nvidia G-Sync enabled),16 GB of RAM, and a 256 GB SSD / 1TB HDD will cost you $1,999. The mid-range model with a 4k display, GTX 1080, Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, and 32GB RAM is priced at $2,349. While the high-end variant with 17-inch 4K display ( Nvidia G-Sync enabled), Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080, 2X 1TB SSD / 1TB HDD, overclockable 7th generation Intel Core i7-7820HK processor and 32 GB of RAM will cost you whopping $3,699.
One of the main selling points of the new Omen X could be the ease of upgradability. The Omen X provides a single panel access to the storage and RAM compartments. You can easily upgrade the RAM, SSD, or HDD using a Philips screwdriver. Which is something that is not very common in the other high-end gaming laptops?
Design wise, HP has opted for the clean stealthy black look with the Omen logo and some red linings on the back panel. The keyboard features mechanical keys capable providing 2.5mm of key travel. Each key features individual RGB lighting customizable via the in-built software. The Omen X also offers a decent port selection with two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, three standard USB ports, HDMI port capable of delivering HDR content, mini DisplayPort, Ethernet port, and a Memory Card reader slot.
The HP Omen X laptops will reportedly go on sale sometime in November 2017. Stay tuned for the updates.
