According to the reports, Intel is planning to launch its eighth-generation processor lineup on August 21. But the company just surprised everyone by announcing its post 8th-generation processor lineup. Intel already has the name for them, the future generation Intel processor will be reportedly called as the Ice Lake processors.
As reported by AnandTech, The Ice Lake processor family is a successor to the yet to be announced 8th generation Intel Core processor lineup. These processors will incorporate Intel’s 10 nm+ processor technology. It is surprising because the company has yet to launch their first processors utilizing the 10nm Core architecture and we are already getting news about their successors. It is not very common for Intel to reveal the details about their future processor family that early.
The upcoming Intel processor code named as Coffee Lake processors will utilize the third generation of 14nm architecture while the Cannon Lake chips will incorporate the new 10nm technology. The Cannon Lake processors will allegedly be the first generation of Intel 10nm processors. The Ice Lake processor family will be a successor to this first gen Cannon Lake processors, it is all very confusing considering we are yet to try any of them.
Intel will probably introduce their new 8th-generation processor family on the August 21st, more technical details will be revealed once the company officially launches the lineup. That said, it is safe to say we won’t be getting the Ice Lake processors until sometime around 2019.
Stay tuned for the updates.
